1/365th of an Orbit is inspired by the length of a single day in the Earthβs yearly orbit around the sun. The time unit of a single day is the cosmic and humble container we live and rest within, held between the colors of sunrise and sunset. By passing through the portal, the viewer is invited to inhabit the liminal space between these daily solar events. The spiral shapes towards the top of the arch mimic those found in images of galaxies produced by the Webb telescope. When viewing the sky through the pink vinyl fabric inside the portal, does your perspective shift? If we give attention to our vast planetary context, can we replace our rushed relationship with time with a sense of awe? Can we pause long enough in between our waking and sleeping to allow a vibrant lens of preciousness to color our living hours?
